Publication: El mundo estudia español 2024. Traducciones

Institution: Unit for Education Abroad

Publication compiling reports on the presence of Spanish in 37 countries, each presented in its respective language.

The main challenge laid in ensuring typographic adaptability across multiple writing systems, including non-Latin scripts such as Chinese, Arabic or Thai. Particular attention was given to maintaining a clear hierarchy and a consistent, accessible structure throughout its 346 pages.

Given the complexity of the publication, the project was approached through a simple grid system, well-defined margins, and clear typographic hierarchies. Since the publication was intended to be purely digital, there was no need to adapt inner margins.

Cambria was used for headings, while Source Sans Variable served as the body text. Additional typefaces, such as Adobe Arabic, Microsoft YaHei and Tahoma, were incorporated where necessary to accommodate the corresponding languages.

The publication includes numerous charts and data tables, where careful attention to detail was essential to ensure clarity and readability. The colors used in the charts were chosen with a similar level of saturation to the accent colors, helping to maintain visual harmony across the publication. In addition, the color palette followed the 60–30–10 rule to maintain balance and consistency. Charts and graphic elements were developed using Adobe InDesign and Adobe Illustrator.
